ABOUT DR. PAULA MADDOX

HELPING LEADERS SUCCEED HAS BEEN PAULA’S PRIMARY ROLE FOR YEARS

Why?

She’s been in your shoes.

Paula embarked on her professional journey in an entry-level position at the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Soon, she ascended to leadership positions with the U.S. General Accounting Office (GAO) and General Services Administration (GSA), overseeing more than 25 million square feet of commercial office space and generating more than $26 million USD of revenue annually.

Throughout her tenure in leadership positions at these organizations, Paula consistently found herself approached by individuals—both peers and leaders—from various divisions seeking her guidance. They sought advice on multiple topics, including personal leadership development, strategic thinking, effective communication, and fostering relationships among colleagues and subordinates.

Upon receiving consistent feedback from C-Suite executives and peers alike, she pursued advanced degrees in leadership, including an M.S. in Management-Leadership and Organizational Effectiveness (Troy University) and a Doctorate in Strategic Leadership (Regent University).

Her journey to success came with its share of growing pains and challenges. Are you a mid-level leader grappling with the complexities of influencing upwards (higher-ranking executives), downwards (lower-ranking employees), and across (peers)? Are you seeking strategies to enhance self-mastery, boost team productivity, and navigate conflict effectively? Do you find yourself striving to enhance communication across different levels of management? Perhaps you occasionally experience feelings of impostor syndrome, questioning your ability to excel at the highest levels. If so, rest assured that Paula has negotiated similar paths and emerged successfully.

In fact, her journey of overcoming such challenges propelled her to diversify her career options and venture into leadership coaching. Since this transition, she has had the privilege of serving approximately 1,500 clients and accumulating over 3,600 coaching hours. Her clients span the United States and fifty-seven countries worldwide. They represent various levels of their organizations and diverse professions, including banking, technology, aerospace, cryptocurrency, accounting, pharmaceuticals, film/entertainment, military, and government.

Paula thrives in fostering connections, drawing energy from her one-on-one coaching sessions. Guiding clients through their frustrations and challenges, she empowers them to become adept communicators, influential relationship cultivators, and top-notch strategic minds. Witnessing their growth to achieve their career aspirations brings her profound satisfaction.

MISSION:

Paula is dedicated to offering affordable coaching that steers seasoned and aspiring leaders along an authentic path toward leadership excellence and the achievement of strategic goals.

CORE VALUES:

Here are five core values that guide my leadership coaching:

  1. Strategic Thinking and Time Management. The best leaders aren’t merely busy—they are productive. Thus, I coach my clients in strategic thinking, strategic foresight, and how to align these skills with the company's organizational strategic plan.

  2. Leadership Development. The most effective leaders cultivate daily behaviors and strategies to position themselves for continuous growth. They exemplify best-in-class leadership strategies that serve as models for others to emulate. From my experience, many leaders find value in working with a coach who can provide guidance and support in this ongoing development journey.

  3. Relationship Building. Exceptional leaders excel in building relationships across diverse global and cross-functional levels. Authentic connections require a genuine appreciation for others, active listening, and cultural agility. From my observations, many leadership challenges stem from a lack of connection or the absence of a robust leadership pipeline.

  4. Servant Leadership. The most effective leaders enrich their organizations by prioritizing service, making sacrifices, and carefully evaluating organizational risks. While leaders may enjoy certain privileges, they often face tough decisions while prioritizing the well-being of those they lead. They consistently challenge themselves and their teams, maintaining a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

  5. Influence and Persuasion. The most impactful leaders earn respect from both their peers and their followership, even when their decisions are met with resistance. They leverage their influence and persuasive abilities while carefully weighing the impact on others. These leaders demonstrate integrity by making sound decisions, acknowledging their mistakes, and guiding with humility and grace.
